MULTIPLAYER FPS PROBLEM??
hej guys, need help badly.
The problem is that my FPS in cod4 MP goes red all the time, (cg_drawfps 1)
when i move, it is in little shocks (they are tiny but it's very annoying)
i didnt use to have that problem, my cod4 ran very smooth.
it started after i installed windows7 on it.
I updated my drivers, directx, pb, anything i could think off.
i have no problems in Single Player, or in operation flashpoint 2 ,single or multiplayer.
it's only in cod4 MP.
i have geforce 9800 GTX+ so that can't be it, btw i've been playing good with this one before.
it's 32-bit with 4 gigs ram (i know it only recognizes 3.25)
So, might this be the problem?
maybe i need more because windows 7 needs more than XP (wich was my previous operating syst.)
i will install 64-bit soon, to get full access to my 4 gigs, maybe that helps
or has anyone a better idea?

Re: MULTIPLAYER FPS PROBLEM??
It could be the cylinder head or may be the fuel pumpĀ¬ if it is neither of these then I am stumped!

Re: MULTIPLAYER FPS PROBLEM??
I'm running 64-bit over here to utilize my 4gigs of RAM.
And my nvidia drivers 190.62_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_english_whql.
All running smoothly, last time I've checked somewhere at 80-90fps, including the peaks.
Check your video card drivers one more time, RT.
You should be running ok.

Re: MULTIPLAYER FPS PROBLEM??
installed (newest) driver :
191.07_desktop_win7_winvista_32bit_english_whql
(still running win7 32bit)
FPS is around 91 now, so must be another problem..
as soon as i get my hands on 64bit i'll upgrade to that and install driver you got, DL
let's hope that does the trick.
What's your Graph cart? also 9800?

Nope, mine is good old 8800GT.

Re: MULTIPLAYER FPS PROBLEM??
Even 2GB is more than enough for this game so that's not the problem. You say your FPS is 91? Everything above 30 is good (most consoles use this) and everything above 60 is enough for most hardcore gamers. So if you experience shocky movements, it's not because of your FPS...
Since you say cod4 singleplayer works: did you check your ping? or perhaps the firewall is messing with it. Do you experience any lag or whatever in other multiplayer/online games?

my ping is a constant 45, so that isn't it.
Maybe anti-virus?
i put my firewall off, so can't be it either..
I tested operation flashpoint 2 in multiplayer and no problems what so ever.

Re: MULTIPLAYER FPS PROBLEM??
but somehow, it's fixed now.
the only thing i did before it got fixed was changing, in-game,
/cg_fov from 65 to 80
Can't be it, right?
anyway, it resolved itself. TY for feedback.
i love my mathilda (yes, i name my PC)

Re: MULTIPLAYER FPS PROBLEM??
I have salivation watching your PC's components, guys
However, i didn't make a reply only for this phrase ) It will be kinda off-topic, but i have another problem with CoD4 running on my Win 7, i hope it will be rightful to ask it here.
When im trying to start CoD, i get error about "missing d3d9blabla.dll" (in sp and mp both). And im confused, because i know that this .dll file related with DirectX9. But i checked Win7 dx and it's version 11. And i think (according some logic) that new one have to include the old one in it (dx i mean). And more than that - i see that all of u haven't such problem with game and new OS. So have u any thoughts about it?
P.S. Windows 7 x32, pre-release or even release version (im not sure), valid version (i can download patches and fixes from Microsoft site) and updated by last fixes.

Re: MULTIPLAYER FPS PROBLEM??
As far as I remember Win7 goes with DirectX11,
but in a weird way it lacks some of DirectX9 components.
Should be solved by running DirectX redistributable package -
"directx_mar2009_redist.exe" fixed me.

Re: MULTIPLAYER FPS PROBLEM??
i remember a similar problem with battlefield 2
but when i installed directx of BF2 (from DVD) it worked,
it seems that since the game is made for directx 9 it needs a certain file even though the game can be play with higher directx's,
it still needs that one file from dx9 installed on your pc.

Re: MULTIPLAYER FPS PROBLEM??
190.38 and 250 fps constant i tried to update it and i had fps drops. 190.38 is the most stable (current) driver i've ever tested (i play with them too much )...
i have a high-end system (u can check that from Here ) and running on 1920x1080 res. & full details and i get 250 constant (it drops till 180 at creek but i dont get less than that. and i can see 150 at crash sometimes with new drivers.. weird.)
btw. u have to lock ur fps (max 250) at promod servers.. (/com_maxfps 250) if i don't lock it, i can get 940+ fps at crossfire
so, i recommend u 190.38 give it a try.

Eh...
I acualy think its not your computer thats the problem.
I think you have downloaded a virus into your pc.
( maybe downloading something from COD4 or just the itnernet )
I think you should look in your Programa files.
